MC² Events

NEWS -- Visit the McDermott Library Management Satellite (MC2)during office hours or contact the librarian to make an appointment. SOM students and faculty can get one-on-one research assistance from a librarian, as well as access the library's electronic resources, within the walls of the School of Management building. The MC2 office, located in SM 2.206 (off the Undergraduate Study area), is a "virtual library" with fully-equipped computer workstations. Hillary at

Faculty, patrons must obtain new UTD-ID to remotely access library resources off campus. As of December 2006, the new UTD-ID will be required to access McDermott Library's electronic resources from off-campus. All faculty, students, and staff must obtain their new UTD-ID to remotely log-in to the library's electronic databases.

The new UTD-ID number can be found by logging on to http://netid.utdallas.edu. Library officials recommend that faculty, students and staff exchange their old Comet Card for a new one that has their UTD-ID printed on it.

The Comet Card, old or new, is still necessary to check out books and materials at the library. New cards are available at the Info Depot on the second floor of the Student Union.

• New RefWorks Sessions: Is now available from the McDermott Library Home Page

Create instant bibliographies -- RefWorks is a citation management service that allows you to import citations from online article indexes and databases, organize and manage these references within folders, automatically format them within papers and create instant bibliographies in a variety of styles.

Training is available in MC2.524 on September 12, 3-4pm. Other dates TBA. Register or call for more details with carol.oshel@utdallas.edu or 972 883-2627. Sessions are held in McDermott Library in MC2.524. A quick tutorial and instructions for logging on to RefWorks are located on the Library's website.

• The Bloomberg Professional® data product is available in MC2. Undergraduate and Masters-level students may stop by during our office hours to use the Bloomberg workstation. Faculty and PhD students should contact David Sanzgiri for assistance.

Dr. Walter Johnston is the Data Librarian and is available to assist with locating and using datasets. Students are encouraged to visit MC2 during office hours or contact the librarian to make an appointment.

MC2 : Research Assistance for SOM Students, Faculty and Staff

MC²-The McDermott Library Management Satellite is an extension of the library's mission to ensure access to valuable information resources available to the UTD community. This outreach service is the product of a successful relationship between the School of Management and the library, via the library's Liaison Program.
