From Outer Space to Intellectual Space: Managing Teams for Maximum Performance
From 1994 to 2008, Dr. Reilly worked as an astronaut at NASA, logging over 14 million miles in several space shuttle missions and orbiting the earth over 500 times. Now retired, Dr Reilly serves as the Vice President of Product Development at TAEUS International in Colorado Springs, CO.

Maintaining the Momentum
Since taking office, The Mayor and the City Council have pursued policies that have dramatically improved the quality of life in Dallas. The crime rate has been reduced by double digits, major firms like AT&T and Tenet Healthcare have moved to Downtown Dallas and construction is underway on Main Street Garden, the Woodall Rogers Deck Park and the first Calatrava-designed bridge over the Trinity River. New games have found a home at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, and new plants in Southern Dallas and at the Inland Port have created hundreds of new jobs.
Mayor Leppert has led major corporations in the areas of construction, financial services and real estate. As CEO of Turner Construction, he moved the Fortune 500 firm's headquarters to Dallas. He also was chair of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and still serves on its Executive Committee.

Researching the Value of Project Management
Dr. Edwin Andrews is the Director of Academic and Education Programs & Services at PMI. He came to the organization in 2005 as the Manager of Research having had a distinguished record in both industry and academe. Ed was educated as a veterinarian and obtained a PhD, establishing himself as an academician and sponsored researcher at The Pennsylvania State University’s College of Medicine and at Cornell University. He was recruited to industry and rose to the vice president level in several Johnson & Johnson companies. During his tenure with J & J he was also a Director of Global Marketing. His alma mater, The University of Pennsylvania called on his management and financial expertise by recruiting him as Dean of Veterinary Medicine, a position he held until his return to industry with Mallinckrodt, Inc as Senior Vice President for Science & Technology. In addition to his academic and industrial experience he was an active consultant to industry and not-for-profit organizations. Dr. Andrews’ project management experience was gained from his varying positions in Johnson & Johnson and Mallinckrodt where he established a Project Management Office and its first Portfolio Management Program. He is the author of over 50 refereed publications and books and has been an active presenter at seminars, congresses and symposia worldwide. Dr. Andrews has served on many boards as well as academic, corporate, government and international committees including an ISO standards committee. In 1992 he was appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the Research Resources Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health.

The Latest Trends in Project Management
Veikko Valila is the Secretary General of the International Project Management Association (IPMA), a global federation of over 40 national project management associations and registered in Switzerland. He has more than 30 years experience in project and risk management, gained in employment with PaloDEx Group, Kone Corporation, Industrial Mutual, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Sampo Industrial Insurance, Insurance, If P&C Insurance and Marsh & McLennan. Veikko has been a Scientific and Industrial Commissioner of Finland for China and Southeast Asia and has lived and worked in circa 50 countries. He was a co-founder of Soredex Oy (a dental imaging company) and responsible for start up of new insurance underwriting operations in the London market (Hansa Industrial Insurance). Veikko has also served as a Scientific and Industrial Commissioner for Finland creating new industrial and scientific co-operation projects between Finland and China. Veikko has provided consulting and risk management services for many large corporations in the areas of power generation (including thermal and nuclear power), pulp & paper industry and large infrastructure projects (including harbor and motorway projects).
