Using Lexis Nexis For Private Company Information

From the library’s web page www.utdallas.edu/library select “Finding Articles (Databases)” from the Resources list. Click on J-L and select Lexis Nexis from the list.

Click on Finding Articles

Click J-L

Scroll down and click on Lexis Nexis

In this search the name of the company must be known.

Scroll to the lower right corner

In the lower right corner in the Company Information box

Click on the drop down to choose US Private

use the drop down menu to choose U.S. Private Companies

Click on the drop down to change the date to “all available”

and use the Date menu to change the range of available dates.

Type the name of the company and click search.

Type Cargill in the company name box and click search

The result list will have reports from Hoover’s Company Records, Institutional Shareholder Services, Inc (ISS Filings), US Business Directory or Standard and Poor’s Corporate Descriptions.

Often the content will be very brief and additional resources will be needed. Some suggested resources are Forbes.com and the Better Business Bureau.
