Proctored Exam Information

Some of Global MBA Online courses require a proctored final exam. Students should check the course syllabus for this information. If a course does require a proctored exam, the student should follow the guidelines and procedures below.

Three options are available for taking a proctored final exam:

Need help finding a testing center? Click here.
  1. The student takes the exam by attending a class exam session supervised by the instructor on the UTD campus at the time and place designated by the instructor. Student can show up on the exam day and no pre-arrangement is needed.
  2. A local student who anticipates being unavailable for the scheduled exam session may contact the UTD testing service at the Learning Resource Center (972-883-6707) to schedule an individual proctored exam during the required final exam period. Please see the Procedures for Arranging an Individual Proctored Exam below.
  3. A student who finds UTD geographically inconvenient may have an approved testing service in a convenient location administer the exam during the required final exam period. Please see the Procedures for Arranging an Individual Proctored Exam below.

Pre-approved Testing Services:

The testing services approved to administer proctored exams are:

  1. The UTD Learning Resource Center.
  2. Official testing center/office at a University, community college or other academic institution.
  3. Learning and testing center like Sylvan Learning/Prometric Center.
  4. The Education Office at a military installation.

Alternative Testing Services:

If attending a proctored exam at one of the above locations is not possible, students may request an alternative testing facility. This must be approved in advance by the Global MBA Online Office. Please email gmbasupport@utdallas.edu with the intended proctor and facility information for approval. Exam proctors must not have any family or personal relationship with the students.

Procedures for Arranging an Individual Proctored Exam:

Students who need to make individual arrangement for a proctored exam using a testing service (including the UTD Learning Resource Center), must follow these procedures:

  1. Find a testing service that is willing to proctor your exam. Click here to see locations that have previously been used by GMBA students.
  2. Inform the course instructor and GMBA Online Office (gmbasupport@utdallas.edu) that a proctored final will be arranged with a testing service. Do this before the date specified in the course syllabus. Please provide the testing center's name and location and proctor information. When using a non pre-approved alternative testing service, the GMBA office will determine and inform the 'student as to the acceptability of the site. nimish
  3. Download and complete the Proctored Exam Form (PDF file to be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader). Please complete all information in the required fields. The required exam time window usually falls within the last week of the course. Please check the exact exam dates specified in each course syllabus. You may use one form for multiple courses. Please list all the exams you are going to take. Both the student and the proctor must complete and sign the form.
  4. The completed and signed exam form must be mailed or faxed back to GMBA Office before the deadline specified in each course syllabus. The address and fax number can be found on the form.
  5. After receiving the exam form, the GMBA Office will contact the testing center via email and provide information on how to download the exam 1-2 weeks before the start of the exam time window. Once the email is received, the proctor will log in to our system to download the exam and print out a hardcopy. You will take the test using this hardcopy.  An exam cover letter containing exam proctoring instructions and an exam certificate will be included in the downloadable file.
  6. If an exam requires a "Scantron Answer Form" for answering questions, students should acquire it beforehand and bring it to the exam site. The following two forms are usually used by our online courses: Scantron Form No. 882-E and Scantron Form No. F-1712-PAR-L. The Scantron Forms are available at the UTD Bookstore or "Off-Campus Books". For distance students, you may check with local college/university bookstores. You can also order them from "Off-Campus Books" (email to: ocb4utd@gte.net, or call: 972-907-9398) or from MBS Direct Online Store.
  7. Students are responsible for scheduling the exam with the exam proctor and paying all  applicable proctoring fees, including any mailing fees for the return of the exam.
  8. Take the exam as scheduled (within the required exam time window) at the testing location under the supervision of the proctor. The student will need to show a photo ID to the proctor.
  9. Both the student and the proctor will sign a document upon finishing the exam to certify that the examination has been administered and completed in accordance with the identified regulations. The proctor must mail the exam back to the GMBA Program Office immediately. Our mailing address is included in the exam certificate letter sent to the proctor (Attn: Katrina Adams, P.O. Box 830688, SM27, Richardson, TX 75083-0688). Student may arrange with the proctor for the express returning of the exam if necessary (Street Address for express courier: Attn: Katrina Adams, 2601 North Floyd Road, SM27, Richardson, TX 75080). Proctors may also fax back a copy of the completed exam to the GMBA Office if it's in accordance with the policy of the testing center. Please make sure the exam is received at our office by the deadline specified in each course syllabus to allow timely grade reporting.
  10. If a student has not made any individual proctored exam arrangements by the required date, the student is required to attend the class exam session on campus on the designated day (option 1).
