M.S. in Management and Administrative Sciences
Organizational Behavior and Coaching

Curriculum

The Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Management and Administrative Sciences involves completing a 36-hour program consisting of 10 hours of basic core business courses, and 26 hours of courses in a selected area of concentration plus electives. Those candidates also wishing to receive a graduate certificate in executive and professional coaching from an accredited coaching training program (ACTP) must complete those courses marked with an asterisk from the organizational behavior and coaching courses.

PREREQUISITES: A prerequisite in calculus is required for admission into the UTD School of Management. Those students who have not taken calculus previously will be required to complete an online calculus course during the first 12 months of the program. This non credit calculus prep course is offered at no cost to the students.

Basic Core Courses

Each candidate must satisfactorily complete the following 10-credit-hour basic core:

  • AIM 6201 Financial Accounting (2 hours)
  • MECO 6303 Business Economics (3 hours)
  • MIS 6204 Information Technology and Management Information Systems (MIS) Fundamentals (2 hours)
  • OPRE 6301 Quantitative Introduction to Risk and Uncertainty in Business (3 hours)

Concentration Core Courses: Organizational Behavior and Coaching
Each candidate must satisfactorily complete 12 hours of the following concentration core:

  • OB 6350 Introduction to Executive and Professional Coaching (3 hours) *
  • OB 6351 Coaching in the Business and Organizational Setting (3 hours) *
  • MAS 8V00 Coaching Practice Lab (3 hours) *
  • OB 6301 Organizational Behavior (3 hours)

Concentration Elective Courses: Organizational Behavior and Coaching
Each candidate must satisfactorily complete 14 hours of the following concentration electives:

  • OB 6352 Advanced Coaching Models and Methods (3 hours) *
  • OB 6353 Coaching Practicum (3 hours) *
  • OB 6331 Power and Politics in Organizations (3 hours)
  • OB 6332 Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (3 hours)
  • OB 6326 Organizations and Organizing (3 hours)
  • MAS 6V02 (Special Topics: Organizational Behavior – 2 hours)

On-campus Electives

The following courses are offered in a concentrated three day format on the University of Texas at Dallas campus. With approval, they may be substituted for some concentration elective courses. However, at present, these are not regularly scheduled courses.

  • OB 6336 Motivational Leadership in Organizations (3 hours)
  • OB 6337 Coaching as a Leadership Style: The science and practice of influencing behavior (3 hours)
