Message from the Dean
Welcome to The University of Texas at Dallas School of Management Web site. Let me take this opportunity to share with you a brief introduction to our school. The School of Management was created in 1975, following the establishment of The University of Texas at Dallas in 1969. The three visionary founders of Texas Instruments sparked the university's creation by launching a research center in 1961. Currently, we offer more than 15 degrees at the undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. levels. We have more than 135 full–time faculty members and more than 5,000 students.
Although our school is young in comparison to many other institutions, it has, in four short decades, achieved top standing as one of the foremost public business schools in the nation. This year, our academic programs are ranked as high as the top 20 by BusinessWeek, Financial Times and U.S. News & World Report. Among public business schools, two of our programs (Part–Time MBA and Executive MBA) are ranked in the top 10 by BusinessWeek. The school has earned this distinction by offering relevant and rigorous programs developed by a highly qualified faculty of exemplary teachers and leading researchers. Our world–renowned faculty, our enthusiastic staff, our hardworking students and our exemplary facilities all contribute to creating an outstanding learning environment.
The School of Management enjoys enthusiastic backing from alumni, businesses, professional associations and the surrounding community. The school also benefits from its location in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, a forward–looking center of industry and trade that places a high value on ingenuity and entrepreneurship. This outlook inspires our efforts.
Our outstanding faculty, whose members form the backbone of the School of Management, represent a wealth of intellectual capital. Recruited for their business, teaching and research acumen, faculty members often come here because UT Dallas enthusiastically encourages and supports scholarly inquiry and innovative teaching that is at the cutting edge of the changing global economy. Our researchers' productivity is exceptional, both in quantity and in groundbreaking quality. This year, Financial Times ranked our faculty 20th in the world based on publications in the leading business journals. New discoveries, along with faculty members' long–held expertise, prompt and inform our academic programs at every level–undergraduate to MBA to post–doctorate.
Drawn by the School of Management's energy and pursuit of excellence, the student body encompasses a diverse community united in its drive not only to learn the tools and methods of success but also to attain the foundations of long–term growth.
I invite you to learn more about the School, read our Mission Statement, review our rankings and study our Web pages.
I think you will find that the UT Dallas School of Management works hard to achieve an unrivaled educational experience.
