Research

Cutting edge research is being conducted by IS faculty in a wide cross-section of areas that include Business Intelligence and Data Mining, Personalization and Recommendation Systems, Information Privacy and Security, IT Productivity, Management and Maintenance of Software Development, and Healthcare IT. The strong research focus of the faculty is evidenced by the numerous research articles published in leading journals in information systems. Recently, the research productivity of the UTD IS faculty was ranked in second worldwide based on the number of publications in the premier IS journals - MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal on Computing - during the period 2004-2008, ahead of University of Texas at Austin, New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Arizona, and others. Several faculty members serve on advisory and editorial boards of major academic journals, and have chaired the premier meetings in information systems. The journal Information Technology and Management is housed in the School of Management.
